In today’s booming electronics laden world wide community, power, electrical power is at a premium. In order to sustain all of our electronic gear, and keep it running we need to be able to supply a source of electric power to these devices and this usually means AA batteries. As we grow more eco-friendly as well, batteries that can be recharged are the way to go.

You can use these AA batteries in many of the electronics you use on a daily basis. Including your digital camera, some MP3 players, a personal digital assistant, flashlights, your Television remote control, baby and child toys, they all need power to operate, and they all seem to use this power with abandon. We will outline the differene between nickel cadmium, or Ni-Cad, and lithium ion, or Li-on, baterries, as well as other forms of AA batteries and their respective charger. Many of these chargers are simple plug and play devices, whichmeans all you have to do is place a AA battery into the charger, and wait for it to perform it’s job.

Here is a brief outline of the differnet types of AA Battery types and other associated acronyms pertaining to them


”: Ni stands for Nickel, the M stands for Metal, and the H stands for Hydryde thus Nickel Metal Hydryde.

“mA”: is the rate of charging as applied to rechargeable batteries. An amp is a coulomb of charge per second, a mA is one thousandth of that.

“”mAh”: Stands for milli-ampere hours and is a measure of energy. In our case it measures the capacity of the battery or how much charge before needing to be recharged.

“V”: Stands for voltage. It measures the power of the batteries. For NiMH batteries, they are 1.2V. For alkaline batteries, they are 1.5V.
